1. Should I place a deposit? It is up to you. Placing a deposit will hold a puppy from a current or upcoming litter. Deposits are $250 and they are non-refundable. We accept cash or check when it comes to placing a deposit. You can then come and "pick" your puppy when he/she is at least four weeks old. By this time you can see the puppies facial features and their personalities begin to show.
2. If I am the second person to place a deposit, does this mean that I get second pick? Yes, basically this means that you have the second pick out of all of the puppies in a litter. However, we have the right to reserve "first pick", or "pick of the litter". For example, we may want to keep a male or female from a particular litter. Also, we try our best to match up puppies with their new families.
3. Do you ship your puppies? How much is it? At what age can one be shipped? Yes, we do ship our puppies. We do not however ship them overseas. We keep our babies flying over land, not water. Shipping is an additional $350. This includes cost of shipping, crate, and a health certificate from our vet saying the puppy is healthy enough to be shipped on an airplane. (Health certificate is needed or else puppy CANNOT fly) Puppies can be shipped as early as 8 weeks old. If you are shipping an older puppy, hence it will weigh more, you may pay more than $350 because of its increased size and weight.
4. Are your puppies and dogs AKC registered? YES. All of our dogs and puppies are AKC registered. You will receive your puppies papers, along with additional information such as how to care for your new puppy when you come and pick him/her up.
5. Does my puppy come with full or limited registration? All of our puppies are sold with limited registration. This means that the puppy is sold as a pet. You cannot breed or show your puppy with limited registration. However, full registration is available at an additional fee. With full registration you can show or breed your dog.
6. Should I crate train my puppy? YES. We highly recommend to introduce a kennel to your puppy for him/her to sleep in at night. It is also a good idea to keep him/her in it while no one is at home. Puppies should not roam free because accidents can happen. Your puppy will soil in your house or chew things he is not supposed to. It is also important to keep an eye on your puppy at all times. If you cannot watch your puppy because you are busy ironing clothes, then put him in his crate! Crate training helps with housebreaking. A pup that is not crate trained will have a much harder time being housebroken.
7. What do you feed your puppies? We feed our puppies Purina One Large Breed Puppy. If you wish to feed your puppy something else, then do so gradually. You do not want to completely switch your puppy to a different dog food overnight. He will not like it because it will hurt his tummy, and you will not like it because he will have an upset stomach, loose stools, and he will more likely go potty whenever he feels like it (because he cannot help it). Recommendation Transition Guide: Day 1 – 2: Feed ¼ of new diet and ¾ of Purina One.
Day 3 – 4: Feed ½ of new diet and ½ of Purina One.
Day 5 – 6: Feed ¾ new diet and ¼ of Purina One.
Day 7: The transition period is over and you can feed the recommended amount of your puppy's new food.
8. How do I pay for my puppy? If you place a deposit for your puppy: (most likely puppy is a newborn-6 weeks old or puppy is being shipped) If you place a deposit for a puppy then the deposit is either payed in cash or check (remember deposits are non-refundable!). When you come to pick him/her up the remaining balance will be paid in CASH ONLY.
If you do not place a deposit for your puppy: (most likely puppy is over 6 weeks old because he/she can leave for his new home, unless puppy is being shipped) If you do not place a deposit for your puppy then the balance will be paid in full at time of pick up and it is CASH ONLY. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS AT THE TIME OF A PICK UP.
9. How often do I feed my puppy? Most puppies eat about 3 times a day until they are 4-6 months old. At six months old they eat twice a day. At one year, you can continue feeding your dog twice a day or begin feeding him once a day. If you decide to feed him once a day make sure you are giving him enough so he is full! We feed our puppies 3 times a day as followed: Breakfast: 6:00 am Lunch: 12:00 pm Dinner: 6:00 pm Do not let your puppy eat later than 7:00 pm. You do not want him to have an accident in his kennel during the night. You should also remember to take your puppy out to go potty after he has eaten he dry kibble and after he has consumed a lot of water.
10. How do I house break my puppy? First of all, realize that a puppy's body
is not mature enough for muscle
control of its
bladder until it is
3 1/2 to 4
months of age. It can take a puppy up to 16 weeks before he/she is housebroken. You must have patience and perseverance! A consistent routine will also help you and your puppy out when it comes to housebreaking your puppy. Remember to keep your puppy in your sight at all times!
Take puppy outside:
• As soon as a puppy wakes up.
• Right after a puppy eats or drinks.
• After 20 minutes of playtime.
It doesn't take long for a puppy to learn. Make a schedule
for "potty time," playtime,
eating, etc. When you take the puppy outside always tell him "Outside." He
then learns the command. If you catch a puppy in the act of having an accident
in the house, pick him up mid-stream and say "no" in with a firm tone.
NEVER hit a puppy or rub a puppies nose in his own mess. This does not teach
the puppy anything good or positive. Remember
to watch your puppy closely and recognize the "need" for
him to go outside.
